While having existing renewable energy installations like solar panels or battery storage can enhance your benefits from the VPP, it’s not a strict requirement. We offer solutions and guidance for those interested in adopting renewable energy technologies to become part of our energy community.

What battery or inverter systems are compatible with Virtual Watt’s VPP? Virtual Watt’s Virtual Power Plant (VPP) platform supports a wide range of battery and inverter brands. If you currently have any of the following inverter systems installed, your setup is likely compatible with our VPP:
- ABB
- Alpha Ess
- Fox ESS
- Fronius
- GE
- GoodWe
- HYXiPower
- Sigenergy
- SMA
- SolarEdge
- SolarX
- Sungrow
We connect your inverter to the VPP either:
Directly via the inverter’s internal communication system, or
Indirectly using an IoT device known as an Energy Management Device.
In some cases, if we need to install an Energy Management Device and the connection point is located inside the inverter case, an electrician may be required for safety reasons. While installation is generally simple and often DIY-friendly, only a licensed professional should open the inverter casing due to electrical safety regulations.

How do I access the energy market with my home battery? Virtual Watt will connect your battery to our Virtual Power Plant platform either via an API connection or via our IoT device. Once your battery is connected to our VPP it is automatically connected to the energy markets.
